Lowell Bennett
After nearly two decades as a
San Francisco-based freelance writer, commercial journalist, web
developer, business consultant and entrepreneur (personally
venturing into various industries to realize varying degrees of success), in 2005
Lowell Bennett accepted an editorial consulting contract with
China's largest publishing house.
From early 2005 to late 2009,
he consulted and contributed to that apparatus and
subordinate print and web publications. Bennett
otherwise continued with his freelance work,
advising,
editing,
writing, dabbling in
web development
and
shooting photos on behalf of
agencies, publications, private business, corporations and
nonprofit organizations worldwide. He also traveled
widely across the nation of China; to its many regions,
provinces, cities, towns, villages, and remote hinterlands.
A project nearing
completion and set for early 2012 publication is a book of
photography and writing on the modern and increasingly
cosmopolitan metropolis of Beijing. That work, written under
contract, is tentatively entitled:

An Ancient Capital's Renaissance in the Age of
Globalization
Advance excerpts are
available for publication subject to publishing house
approval. The project's 240 images are posted on a
non-public, non-search-indexed web gallery and may be viewed
by request.
Capping Bennett's 4.5 years
in China are two projects featuring his better photos:

The Misguided Tour, 272 select images from across
China, including Tibet and far west Xinjiang, linked on
a very large thumbnail page;
- And
SeePRC.com, 229 audio-captioned images (Windows
Media plugin) in slide show format.

Currently interim-based in
Southeast Asia, Bennett continues his freelance and contract
