Fee Policies
Free Hour
For new and prospective clients there is no charge for the
first hour of consultation or project review.
Writing Assignments
Fees for journalistic and corporate communications assignments taken
on under contract will be agreed upon in advance, with rate depending upon complexity of the subject,
and surcharges, if any, based on expenses incurred.
Editing
Assignments
Journalistic and corporate communications assignments taken
on under contract will be appraised in advance and evaluated per client's
level of requirement - be that cursory, moderate, high, or superior.
Photo Work
Local photographic assignments taken on under contract will be billed at a minimum
of US $200, with price per image or fee for
the total assignment agreed upon in advance, and surcharges, if
any, based on expenses incurred.
Ready-to-Go Press Packs
The pricing for current articles and photos varies per use.
For instance, use of an article by a non-profit organization or academic
institution may cost less than use for a widely circulated for-profit
publication or a highly trafficked commercial website.
Since many publications and media outlets
have established and firm pricing guidelines, the writers and photographers
will entertain offers for their existing articles and images.
However, the minimum fee for the use of any
existing written work is US $150, no matter
how many words are actually published. If required, the content
- like statistics - will be updated at no
additional charge.
Strategic Communications
Consultation
The rate for general consulting on matters of business communications,
media, China-Western culture and liaison, and other professional advisory
assignments, is US $95 per hour, or as otherwise
agreed to in advance. Typically, based on an estimate of minimum
hours, a monthly retainer or total project fee is set and paid in advance.
Variables
Total fee may vary based on factors such as a surcharge for priority rush,
or discount for extended and ongoing assignments.
Sliding Scale
On occasion fees may be adjusted downward based on a client's
ability to pay, nonprofit status or contingency compensation schedule.
